Joey Fatts’ rise from a homeless kid sleeping in the back of his car to producing and collaborating with the likes of A$AP Rocky has been nothing short of remarkable. On his latest seven-track effort, Ill Street Blues, Fatts continues his ascent to the top of the game and makes a strong case as one the leaders of the West Coast’s new school. Fatts self-produced each song on the album and welcomed JMSN and CurrenSy on board for feature spots. Following up on last summer’sChipper Jones Vol. 3, Ill Street Blues is a nice stopgap while fans wait for a full-length project from the A$AP affiliate. Check out the project below.
This spring, Fatts will be hitting the road for a lengthy tour that will take him from California to the East Coast and back again. All I have ever wanted was to inspire people and perform my music live,” said Fatts in an exclusive statement to XXL. “To me, this is the best part of the creative process. As an independent artist this is when all your work shows and you feel the love from your supporters. I’m ready to kill it, if you been to a Joey Fatts show you know it gets crazy… crowd surfing mosh pits and mad weed. I like to party so I’m ready to get lit, going hard every show for my brother Yams like he would have liked me too.”
