Blur stream new song ‘Lonesome Street’ – listen

Blur are streaming another new song, ‘Lonesome Street’, ahead of the release of new album ‘The Magic Whip’ on April 27 – click below to listen.

‘Lonesome Street’ is the album’s opening track, and marks the third song to be revealed from the hotly anticipated LP. ‘Go Out’ was unveiled at the February 19 press conference announcing the group’s return and a video for ‘There Are Too Many Of Us’ – shot by the band on their phones and tablets – was released last week.
On Friday (March 20), the band played the album in full at tiny west London club Mode to an audience of 300 fans. After performing ‘The Magic Whip’ in full, they ended with an encore of ‘Trouble In The Message Centre’ from 1994’s ‘Parklife’.

The band will headline British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park on June 20. They have also been announced as a headliner for this year’s Benicàssim festival in Spain.

Blur’s last UK performance was at Hyde Park in August 2012, in a gig marking the end of the London Olympics. Damon Albarn recently revealed that Blur will play gigs in Scotland and Wales prior to their Hyde Park event.

Speaking to NME, Albarn said: “We are going to do some gigs around the country prior to [Hyde Park], we’re going to play in Wales and Scotland. I’m really, really excited about playing the new record but at the same time we’ve got songs that we wouldn’t not want to play in a big field.”

‘The Magic Whip’ tracklisting is:

‘Lonesome Street’
‘New World Towers’
‘Go Out’
‘Ice Cream Man’
‘Thought I Was A Spaceman’
‘I Broadcast’
‘My Terracotta Heart’
