Recently-launched direct to fan vinyl start-up, QRATES, aims to simplify the process of vinyl ordering for small labels and artists on a low budget by offering to fund, press and selll the product. It also offers digital content solutions.
The company offers a system by which a batch of vinyl is only pressed when a certain number of pre-orders have been reached.
The minimum number of records QRATE can press is only 100, with the concept therefore eliminating unwanted stock and hefty advances for that stock.
Labels and artists set the product prices, but have to pay 15% on the sale of each record if the pressing campaign is successful. QRATES will take a 10% cut on back catalogue records.
